Depending on where you are in Illinois, there are plenty of competitive races on the ballot this year. There are also a lot of races where the outcome is all but certain.

And then there are third party candidates — who this year in particular have gotten a fair amount of attention — at least in the presidential race.  There are some third-party candidates running for office in Illinois and there are candidates running — even if only as write-ins — to give voters in some areas any choice at all.

Some third-party candidates running for local and federal-level positions join the 21st today to share why they chose to run as third-party or write-in candidates and what that entails.
