Register for the Meeting

As a grassroots party, the Illinois Party has biannual Membership Meetings during which our dues-paying members get to vote on issues related to the operations of the party.

At the upcoming 2021 ILGP Fall Conference, there will be both Bylaws and Platform Amendments to consider during the morning’s business meeting.  The language of these amendments may be altered up to including the day of the Fall Conference.  ILGP Members should use Basecamp to discuss the amendments before the meeting if they have questions or concerns they would like addressed.  The proposed Bylaws Amendment can be found on Basecamp here. (Only viewable to ILGP Members).  The proposed Platform Amendments can be found on Basecamp here.

Bylaws Amendment

Implementing Recall Processes

Any position, elected or appointed, in which an individual represents the Illinois Green Party, should, as a matter of basic democracy and accountability processes, be subject to recall. As a party that values democracy, it is important for us to have democratic processes by which the membership can hold those who represent the party accountable.  The proposal will add one section each to Article 7 (National Affiliation) and Article 8 (Standing Committees, Ad Hoc Committees, and Working Groups) to establish a basic recall process.

Note that the only section the Platform Committee is offering two different modified versions and asking the membership to choose one of them or not adopt any changes in that section is Section F: Healthcare. See below for more details.

Here’s a summary of the changes for each section and links to the proposed changes.

At the 2021 Fall Membership Meeting, unless consensus is reached on another health care related proposal that is introduced at the meeting, a vote of the membership will be required to adopt either Version 2 or Version 3, or to keep Section F unchanged.
