Join the Illinois Green Party for an introduction to political organizing!

This is an introductory workshop covering the basics of organizing for a political party or other electorally-focused group. It is primarily a skills-based training, with a short introduction on the concept and philosophy of political organizing.

Members of other organizations are welcome to participate. There will be occasional mention of a few Green Party-specific tools, but the training is designed to be useful for anyone getting started as an organizer.

Training will be held at the Coleman Branch, Chicago Public Library, (731 E 63rd St, Chicago, IL), and lasts two and a half hours. Please be prompt!

This training is required for ILGP Local Point Persons. If you have questions about ILGP organizing positions or their requirements, please use the contact information below.

Chicago Pride - March with the Green Party!

    Greens March with Pride!

The Green Party has stood for LGBTQ+ rights since long before any corporate-party candidates "evolved" on the issue. Green Party mayor Jason West was one of the first officeholders in America to officiate gay marriages, at a time when it was still illegal to do so—and faced criminal charges for it.

When we celebrate Pride, we remember the struggles of those who came before, and recognize the struggles that many of us still face today.

We invite our members and supporters to join our candidates and elected officeholders in Chicago's Pride Parade on Saturday, June 24th! We will have banners, beads, and of course Pride-themed ILGP T-shirts for everyone.

Space is limited, so please sign up to join our marching contingent: https://goo.gl/forms/ZtZc2Qx4kwC21nux1

Following the parade, we will have a casual gathering and picnic near the north end of Lincoln Park, close to the end of the parade route at Sheridan/Diversey. Those who are unable to march are encouraged to join us at the park celebration!

    DuPage Greens July Meeting

    DuPageGreens4Jill.jpg

In these trying times with a neo-fascist in the White House and a union buster in the state house, it’s our duty to the 99% to provide a vigorous opposition to the two party tyranny!

    so …

    Don’t Demoralize, Organize!

On Thursday, July 5th at 7pm at the DuPage Greens Headquarters (213 S. Wheaton Ave, Wheaton, IL) we will hold our DuPage County Green Party Monthly Meeting.

There will be many things to discuss and approve including:

    • 2018 and 2019 elections – petitioning season is here! – several Chicago area candidates need our assistance
    • Upcoming events

After the meeting, about 9pm, we will head over to Muldoon’s Irish Eatery and Pub located at 133 W Front St., less than 2 blocks from the DuPage Greens Headquarters, for additional conversation.

Also, please consider donating to the DuPage Greens. It takes lots of small individual donations from people like you to cover the expenses required to support candidates and grow the Green Party in DuPage County, since as I’m sure you know, we don’t take any big money special interest contributions so we can fight for economic, social, environmental, racial and democratic justice for everyone in DuPage County, not just the fat cats.
