Ballot Access - Petitioner Affidavit

In order for the Illinois Green Party to get its presidential slate and US Senate candidate on the ballot in 2020, the Illinois Green Party must collect 25,000 valid signatures in a 90-day period. This is normally a monumental task, but the COVID-19 public health crisis and related restrictions make petitioning extraordinarily difficult, if not impossible, for the party and its candidates, as well as make it risky, health-wise, for the petitioners and the potential signers.

We are presently seeking individuals who would sign a legal affidavit, to be provided at a later date, stating that were there no public health crisis, they would COLLECT signatures on behalf of the ILGP and its candidates. The purpose of this affidavit will be to show in court, if necessary, that there was a group of individuals ready to hit the streets and actively petition in 2020, but who cannot do so presently because of the public health crisis.

In order to collect petitions in Illinois you must meet the following requirements:

1) Must be 18 years old.

2) Must be a US Citizen. You do NOT need to be an Illinois resident or registered voter.

3) You MUST NOT have circulated a petition for the candidate of another party, or for an independent candidate, for the 2020 primary or general election. (If you collected signatures for someone else this cycle, you can't collect for us.)

Please fill out this form if you will sign a legal document stating that you would collect petitions on behalf of the Illinois Green Party in 2020. If you sign up, you will be contacted at a later date by someone from the Illinois Green Party or our legal team to arrange for the proper document to be signed.

Are you willing to sign a legal affidavit stating that you are eligible to petition in Illinois and were it not for the present public health crisis you would be collecting petitions door-to-door and among crowds on behalf of the Illinois Green Party?

I just agreed to sign the Petitioner Affidavit indicating that I would collect signatures door-to-door and among crowds to get Green Party candidates on the ballot if we weren't suffering a public health crisis. Join me! https://www.ilgp.org/petitioner_affidavit?recruiter_id=29870
