The Green Party Marches at Bud Billiken!
The Bud Billiken Parade is one of Chicago's summer traditions, and a celebration of the city's Black heritage. Dating back to 1929, the parade has always marked the end of summer and the start of the school year on Chicago's South Side.
The Illinois Green Party is honored to be a part of this year's parade, marshaled by Chicago icon Chance the Rapper, and we invite all our members and supporters to join us in marching!
At a time when Chicago's historically Black communities are under attack from gentrification, police brutality, and gun violence, it is critically important for us to show our support for the city's youth and communities of color. We hope to see ALL our Chicago members out for this long-standing, Black-led celebration on the city's South Side. We will be carrying banners, passing out flyers, and taking the time to meet with and listen to our South Side neighbors at this time-honored summer celebration.
Marchers can join us at Parade Position No. 152. Enter at the marching units staging area at 40th and Vincennes.
WE NEED AN ACCURATE HEADCOUNT! If you're marching with us, please fill out this form to tell us you'll be participating and so we can be sure to bring your t-shirt size.
