Woolsey Energy Company, a privately-held, Kansas-based energy corporation, has submitted the first high-volume hydraulic fracturing permit request in the state of Illinois.
A public comment period was initially scheduled to end on June 27th, 2017. However, errors in the permit application have forced Woolsey to re-submit their application. It is fully expected that they will do so. A new public comment period will be scheduled when the new application is received by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Please sign our digital petition below to add your voice to those saying "No!" to permit issuance! On the final day of the new public comment period, we will submit the full stack of all petitions (hand-signed and digital printouts) to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
ILGP local chapters and any other organizers who wish to circulate physical petitions can download a copy here. Physical petitions will be collected by ILGP staff on the final weekend of the new public comment period. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on pen-and-paper petitioning.
Public Comment on Woolsey Operating Company Hydraulic Fracking Well (Review Number HVHHV-000001)
As residents of Illinois, we oppose the issuing of a permit to Woolsey Operating Company for a hydraulic fracking well in White County, IL. Illinois citizens should not be put at risk of the contaminated drinking water and hazardous explosions associated with fossil fuel extraction via fracking. Please reject the permit requested under Review Number HVHHV-00001.
