Call for Candidates for 2012 Elections!
The Illinois Green Party is calling for candidates to come forward for the 2012 election cycle. Voter discontent with the two entrenched parties continues to grow, and here in Illinois the Green Party remains the only viable alternative for most voters!
In November 2012, Illinois voters will elect 18 U.S. Congresspersons, 59 State Senators, 118 State Representatives, half of all countywide offices, and almost every County Board Member throughout the state. There are more offices up in 2012 than in any other even election year until 2022, and with redistricting, there are often a wave of retirements and realignments that allow for breakthroughs – especially at the County Board level.
The Green Party wants to focus this year on rebuilding at the local level in a number of places, with an emphasis on reestablishing the party in County Board districts. In most cases, this will require petitioning from March 27 through June 25.
