Green Party VP Candidate Ajamu Baraka Englewood Townhall
Green Party candidate for Vice President and South Side native, Ajamu Baraka, is holding a town hall meeting in Engelwood.
Mr. Baraka is campaigning to shine a spotlight on the impact of the devastating austerity agenda in education currently being inflicted on Black and Latino students, parents, educators and community members by both the Democratic and Republican parties. In contrast, Green Party policies directly and powerfully address the needs of our students and communities.
Ajamu Baraka states, “When we talk about the sense of desperation in many cities ... we have to talk about the failure of our society to educate Black, brown, Latino children and families of color.”
The Green Party calls for a Humanitarian Intervention in Education:
- A moratorium on school privatization
- Federal funding for 10,000 sustainable community schools
- A national equity assessment of public schools
- The immediate elimination of punitive, high stakes standardized tests which are being used to dismantle public education
